Guaranteed to keep you dry and warm

Camel Active has a long lasting experience in the use of the GORE-TEX® membrane, both in jackets and shoes and in specialized accessories. But many people do not know what exactly this important material is …!

GORE-TEX® is a membrane -an extremely thin layer only 0.01 millimeter thick- of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) which is placed between high-performance lining and shell textiles. More scientifically it has over 9 billion pores per square inch (!). It’s these pores that give the GORE-TEX® fabric its characteristics.

Its positive characteristics are that all the clothes and shoes made with GORE-TEX® are not only waterproof but also breathable. Although it does not allow the cold air to penetrate, allows the body to breathe and perspiration to escape. Contrary to clothes that do not have the GORE-TEX® technology, perspiration quickly evaporates and you remain warm, dry and comfortable.

Due to its unique characteristics GORE-TEX® was used in 1981 in NASA’s first space shuttle mission, shuttle Columbia, where astronauts were wearing spacesuits made with GORE-TEX® fibers. Also in 1990 an international expedition team in Antarctica was wearing GORE-TEX® outerwear while traversing the continent.
